Why do I need to see the results screen of a 1v1 match against a bot every time? Why can't I choose an option to skip perk picks since it's just bot fights? Why is there the long wait time after perk picks to see the enemy's when the bots never change their playstyle to use perks to their advantage? This is probably the biggest culprit to why I hesitate to play more Arcade, because going through 7 rounds of this on hard to get to the fun new part vs the Final Boss is such a drag. Length Between Matches: Think of how quickly you go from round to round in Arcade modes of other games like Smash Bros or Tekken. My 2nd Arcade playthrough I fought 2 Garnets back to back, which really makes the mode feel even more stale when the AI playstyle is always the same.Ĭonnection Issues: This isn't a problem with Arcade so much as the game as a whole, but it is insane to me that you can still get occasional lag spikes when you are the only human player in a match. Poor Randomization: Right now, it's possible to get the same opponent or the same stage multiple times in a row. The frequency in which bots break in 1v1s on this specific map is so jarring and hurts the flow of the mode. Here's a clip of the AI not understanding the hole and just getting stuck, and SPOILER WARINIG here's a clip of the Final Boss randomly SDing for no reason. The problem comes from the AI not understanding what to do on the map, frequently SDing or getting stuck. Rick's AI is so bad that even on hard mode he never feels like a real fight.ĪI & Scooby's Mansion: With the new ceiling-less Scooby's Mansion, the map randomly comes up twice as often, which by itself isn't necessarily a bad thing. Rick seems to be the worst culprit of this, creating Meeseeks but never telling them to go a direction, using aerial special to fly on the Meeseeks all the time in neutral even though it does no damage, & doing down-special but never trying to place it where the player will be to morph them or standing in it to turn big. Gizmo will throw out popcorn, but never shoot it with an arrow. In contrast, characters that have simpler kits work really well, like Finn & Batman being great fights.įor example, Garnet will place her star, but almost never jump to it. I think the main problem comes with characters that have moves that either need multiple button presses or specific actions to reach their full potential. Inconsistent AI Difficulty: Bot difficulty fluctuates wildly character to character, making Arcade's difficulty curve feel entirely random. Maybe I'm too much of a stickler or a grouch, but I've felt bummed how the mode just doesn't feel fun to me, and wanted to breakdown & discuss how all the individual issues combined lead to a very underwhelming experience. To preface, I know the mode is listed as "Arcade v0.1" and will have many changes, but I figured I'd list out my thoughts on its current state.
